Burgundy, Black, and Leather

There are a lot of firsts here. It's the first time I've ever worn knee-high socks and my first time wearing a leather (it's faux-leather!) skirt. I didn't have a loose-fitting burgundy shirt which is what I originally envisioned for this outfit. I always opt for billowy tops when wearing a short or tight skirt. This skirt happens to be both which made pairing it with this formfitting tank quite a challenge for me. I felt very exposed and often like people were staring at me as I went about my day. My mantra was: "It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. You're dressed like this for yourself. You're being the person you want to be." I made it to the end of the day and it was a victory. I got to be myself for an entire day - no consequences. I could get used to this. I think this outfit makes a great foundation. I can't wait to gain the confidence to expand this look with neat accessories. Or to maybe even lose the sweater altogether in the warmer months. We'll see. Baby steps.

PS - I have no idea how I managed to create that much texture in my hair. There's no way I'll ever be able to replicate it.
