Vertical Black and White Stripes (PS: when I'm sad, I make art)

Today, I am in mourning. I am aching. I am in pain.

It probably shows in my photos. My heart wasn't in it. My heart hasn't been in anything since Tuesday night. But the only thing that's ever brought me solace in times of distress is making art. It's how I find the words, it's how I center myself, it's how I process the world. Right now, my chosen art form is to take self portraits of my clothes and to write about it. And that's what I'm going to do. Know that I appreciate anyone who even glances at one of my photos or reads a single sentence of my words. My art is for me and it is for you. It is for everyone who feels lost and different and scared. We will make it through this together. I promise, you are not alone.

Now on to your regularly schedules post:

Vertical black and white stripes. My one true love. These pants are too small. I don't care. Literally zero fucks given because my number one fashion rule is "if you find vertical black and white stripes, you buy it, immediately, whatever it is. Make it work." Because I don't care who says otherwise "Beetlejuice" is a valid fashion statement. Fight me.

And so I struggled and squeezed and after many prayers to any higher power that would listen, I got these things on. Worth it. And as jeans do, they did stretch a bit as I wore them so bonus. When I was feeling particularly bulgy, I had a handy dandy velvet button up shirt to tie around my waist.

Also, these new boots? A+

  1. It is an absolute human certainty that no one can know his own beauty or perceive a sense of his own worth until it has been reflected back to him in the mirror of another loving, caring human being.
